What’s Been Cooking at Harvest Kitchen?

April 27, 2018

Make-Your-Own Sushi Day

Yesterday was make-your-own sushi day with our trainees in the kitchen. The results were definitely delicious!

Lily’s Ladle Veggie Box Cooking Demo

Much thanks to Lily from Lily’s Ladle for making delicious Moroccan-inspired soup earlier this month using her Bone Broth and locally sourced ingredients from that week’s Veggie Box, including:

  • Mustard Greens from Wishing Stone Farm in Little Compton, RI
  • Bolero Carrots fromLangwater Farm in North Easton, MA
  • Parsnips & Garlic from Schartner Farms in Exeter, RI
  • Onions from Pete’s Greens in Craftsbury, VT
  • Fine Sea Salt from Maine Sea Salt in Marshfield, ME

Together, the Lily’s Ladle and Veggie Box collaboration made for a terrific cooking demo. Our store never smelled so good! Just imagine the aroma of Harissa powder blooming in coconut oil, accompanied by some of the best bone broth in town and fresh locally grown veggies. Stay tuned for more evening demos to come!

One of our guests that evening shared this on Instagram about her experience at the event, courtesy The Holistic Trick.

Lily’s Ladle cooked me dinner tonight! Checked out Harvest Kitchen, a nonprofit program through Farm Fresh Rhode Island that integrate underprivileged folks into the culinary scene by giving them on the job paid training in food service. Most products (canned goods, baked items, even serving lunch) at Harvest Kitchen are made by employees which gives them a huge level of self-fulfillment and pride! It’s a beautiful thing, y’all should check it out. Also learned more about Veggie Box which is a RI and MA based weekly or bi-weekly box of locally sourced veggies, canned goods, and/or spices for only $28! Pretty great deal!

To learn more visit farmfreshri.org and give Lily’s Ladle a like to learn more about her amazing, high-protein, nutrient-dense bone and veggie mineral broths. So lucky to have connected with an awesome group of like-minded women tonight.
