This week in our Harvest Kitchen culinary training program for youth involved with DCYF, we’re having a Top Chef Competition! Our dedicated staff, along with volunteer extraordinaire Barb Simon, have challenged our trainees with an intensive week-long project.
It started earlier this week with brainstorming, developing team names, and designing team logos. Next our trainee teams worked on menu planning, budgeting, portioning, and costing.
Yesterday, we held a “quick fire” challenge, as a first step toward today’s main challenge of executing the menu they created!
Today, the completed meal for 15 will be prepared and presented to our panel of judges, who will observe individual strengths as well as teamwork. Stay tuned for next week to learn our TOP CHEF WINNER!
