We are proud to introduce our very own Stephanie Pike (RD, LDN) as Rhode Island’s Farm and Sea to School Director!
Stephanie is a born and bred Rhode Islander who has called many places throughout the state home in her life. As a registered dietitian, Stephanie has worked to build healthier Rhode Island communities and healthier New England food systems by working on farms, and in school cafeterias, education settings, nonprofits, and food pantries. You may know Stephanie (previously Stephanie Bush) through her work over the last four years as the Community Education and Farm to School Director at Farm Fresh RI. Stephanie is proud to continue to support local food, education, and advocacy through her newest role as the Farm and Sea to School Director for the Rhode Island Farm to School Network.
As Rhode Island’s Farm and Sea to School Director, Stephanie is working to complete a strategic planning process with the Network, and is working statewide to increase Rhode Island grown, made, and harvested food in school meals, as well as to promote other Farm to School activities in school districts and in our state systems. This statewide effort includes working with the RI Farm to School Network, farmers, fishers, teachers, and school food service professionals, as well as governmental and nonprofit partners to achieve the vision of thriving Farm to School programs in all schools in our state. Stephanie will be a resource for Rhode Island producers and other stakeholders to find the best fit for them in the Farm to School world. For more information, contact hello@rifarmtoschool.org.
The Rhode Island Farm and Sea to School Director position is supported by a partnership between Farm Fresh RI, RI DEM, RIDE, and Rhode Island Commerce.
About the Rhode Island Farm to School Network
The RI Farm to School Network’s mission is to engage partners across Rhode Island in developing, expanding, and strengthening local procurement, education, and gardening initiatives to benefit children and youth throughout the state. These initiatives connect local agriculture to healthy eating habits — which improve public health and the local economy, support local farms and food producers, and build community relationships.
