The third installment in our Fresh Tomato Film Series is coming to Farm Fresh RI on Thursday, July 6, at 6pm! We’re excited to be joined by two experts in Native Food Systems: Silvermoon LaRose and Dawn Spears, who will lead a discussion on Native Foodways in RI — and perform a cooking demonstration!
Silvermoon is a member of the Narragansett Tribe, and the Assistant Director of the Tomaquag Museum. She has worked in tribal communities for over 20 years, serving in the areas of health and human services and education. Dawn Spears is a member of the Narragansett Tribe, the director of the Northeast Indigenous Arts Alliance, and the co-founder of the Narragansett Food Sovereignty Initiative. She is also an award winning artist, and has served as Narragansett tribal secretary and on other various committees.
Tickets for the film screening, discussion, and food demo is free, and donations are welcomed. Please register so we know how many guests to prepare for — watch the trailer here too! We hope you’ll join us for this memorable event.
