On Thursday, July 22, HHRI teamed up with Hasbro Children’s Hospital to distribute farm fresh produce to families affiliated with the hospital. The distribution took place at Hasbro’s Healing Garden, where tables were set up to work alongside hospital coordinators and volunteers to hand out produce. Families from the Primary Care units and the Emergency Medicine Department, as well as some of the janitorial and housekeeping staff, signed up in advance for the outdoor market and left with bags full of fresh, healthy vegetables!
Thanks to the help from our awesome partnering farms and hard working volunteers, we were thrilled to have collected potatoes, onions, beets, two types of squash, collard greens, corn, and green beans to donate. We were able to deliver almost 900lbs of fresh produce, leading to healthy meals for over 60 families affiliated with the hospital. Both the Hasbro staff and HHRI noted how awesome it was to offer such a great variety of produce for families in need, and couldn’t be more proud of what the event turned into. We at Hope’s Harvest are looking forward to working with Hasbro Children’s Hospital again at the end of August 2021 to help more of our neighbors in need!
