Our Harvest Kitchen culinary training program for under-served teens is COVID-19 compliant and has started two new training groups. HK 26 started September 9th in the afternoons, and HK 27 started on October 5th in the mornings.
We are proud to share that our HK 26 trainees have completed their Food Handlers Certification and are now learning knife skills in the kitchen with Chef Sean and Chef Bernard.
In addition to the culinary job training program, Harvest Kitchen produces a line of value-added products using locally sourced ingredients. Fall is a season where tomatoes are abundant! Harvest Kitchen and the training program at the RI Training School have processed over 2000 lb. of B-grade (“ugly”) tomatoes from Schartner Farms in Exeter, RI, and Kitchen Garden Farm in Sunderland, MA — transforming them into jarred, stewed tomatoes.
Get some of these amazing tomatoes at the Farm Fresh Winter Market — Open Saturdays, 9am-1pm from November 7, 2020, through April 24, 2021! We can’t wait to see you at the market in our brand-new building at 10 Sims Ave, Providence!
Don’t worry, Apple Chip fans — Apple Chip production will begin soon!!!
