Where it all began… A one-burner operation is how Harvest Kitchen got its start in the dead of winter in 2010. it was a cold, rainy January afternoon. We wondered “Would any of the trainees even show up?” Well, they did! And so began our first culinary job training program. That’s also when we started recipe development and marketing research for applesauce — which would become our first-ever Harvest Kitchen product.
Now here we are in 2018. Not only are we making a full line of 15+ locally sourced jarred products in our commercial kitchen and teaching space, but we’re also creating a full menu of delicious foods that we serve to the community every weekday (Monday through Friday) in our local foods café in downtown Pawtucket.
These days, our culinary training program runs twice a day — with separate sessions in the morning and afternoon five days per week. And we offer hands-on retail experience to our trainees in our café and at local farmers markets.
In addition, Harvest Kitchen is proud to support New England farms by purchasing produce to use across our café menu, and by providing co-packing services to make unique products specifically for individual farms and community organizations.
Harvest Kitchen has certainly expanded since 2010. Thank you to everyone who has supported Harvest Kitchen throughout the years! We look forward to seeing you in the café soon!
