On September 24, we started offering an evening session for youth trainees in our Harvest Kitchen culinary job readiness program. Interviewing candidates is always challenging for our team because all the interviewees are remarkable in their own way — and all are looking for change in their lives. Unfortunately we can’t accept everyone who applies.
Now that all the interviews for our evening session are completed, we have selected seven amazing students to join our 20-week culinary journey. Our 20-week culinary job training program offers small-group sessions for youth referred by the RI Department of Children, Youth, and Families. Our trainees participate in a 15-week curriculum that includes farm visits, kitchen safety, nutrition, and cooking essentials, followed by a 5-week paid internship. Through teamwork we build close relationships, and offer continuing support to all our participants.
Soon we will begin conducting interviews for our morning session!
