The leaves are turning and temperatures are dropping, and the outdoor farmers market season is almost at its end. Our Harvest Kitchen farmers market booth has been busy!
On Wednesday, our youth program trainees and teaching assistants took a field trip away from the kitchen to join our retail sales manager Charlotte at the Brown Farmers Market. At the market, trainees put their new retail and customer service skills into action at the Harvest Kitchen booth.
We talked about the importance of setting up an attractive display for the products they work so hard to create. We also spoke with other farmers market vendors to learn about how they set up their market booths and what they think are the most important aspects of successful customer service. Trainees learned how to operate a point-of-sale system to sell products, and engaged with customers to talk about their experiences working at Harvest Kitchen.
Morale stayed high, despite the rain! We’re looking forward to seeing more of our trainees behind the Harvest Kitchen market booth throughout the winter season at the Farm Fresh Winter Market in Pawtucket — 9am to 1pm every Saturday, November 2, 2019 to April 25, 2020.
And until then, you can find the Harvest Kitchen booth — with our line of youth-made products as well as a large selection of regional food items at the following outdoor markets:
