Rachel came to RI in middle school after some time spent in North Carolina and California (home state). After a brief stint at UVM (as an eEnvironmental Studies major), Rachel returned to RI to complete a BA in Communications with a minor in Wildlife and Conservation Biology. She has spent the past several years working with plants on farms and in nurseries. She is extremely passionate about gardening, sustainable agriculture, pollinator activism, and food access. She is a strong believer in the idea that our food and flowers should be grown locally and not thousands of miles away. She also believes that access to healthy food can make a world of difference in the health of RI residents. When not knee deep in the garden, Rachel is an outdoor activity enthusiast. She loves hiking, tennis, paddle boarding, yoga, surfing, and walking on the beach with her dog. She also enjoys using local food to inspire new recipes in the kitchen. In her spare time, she works as a nonprofit development intern at 501c3. Through her work at Farm Fresh RI, she hopes to learn more about food access and nonprofit development.
