Katie is part of the URI Cooperative Extension’s Agriculture and Food Systems Fellowship Program, working with Farm Fresh RI’s Community Education department for the spring and summer. She grew up in a military family, living for over 15 years in Germany. She settled in Newport, RI for high school and college (URI), and she and her husband Mark have four daughters. She currently owns and operates a small soup company and is interested in creating a more environmentally friendly, sustainable business and integrating local, organic products into her business. Farm Fresh RI is going to offer her the opportunity to connect with local farmers and like-minded community members. She is also an avid runner and will be running the New York City marathon in November with one of her daughters.
