Look Who’s Buying & Selling Local Food

September 18, 2019

Here are just a couple of the many wholesale customers who ordered from local farmers, fishers, foragers, ranchers, and food makers through Market Mobile this week!

Northeastern University Dining Services
106 Saint Stephen St
Boston, MA

Here at Northeastern University, Dining Services strives to continually become greener and more sustainable by implementing programs to create a greener campus. We believe that the health of our eco-system is directly connected to the health of our communities and the people who live in them. Acting responsibly is part of our DNA and we are committed to offering foods that are earth, body and community friendly. We are very proud of our efforts and accomplishments to date and will continue to seek out ways to contribute to a greener campus.

UMass Dartmouth Dining Services
285 Old Westport Rd
North Dartmouth, MA

We are fully committed to buying local to help support the viability of the mid-sized American family farmers and local communities. We promote local produce and create awareness of its many benefits. We are committed to buying locally grown produce when available and in-season. Food that is grown local is fresher, reduces the carbon footprint, and supports local farmers and farms who use more sustainable growing practices.

What’s Fresh & Local This Week?

This week, we reminded our wholesale buyers about these great local products for sale — just a few among the extensive list of products offered by over 50 local growers and producers through Market Mobile:

Nectarines — from Barden Family Orchard in North Scituate, RI

  • Yellow nectarines
  • Excellent flavor!
  • Available in 2-1/4″ or 2-1/2″ sizes

Lemon Mint Flowers — from Blue Skys Farm in Cranston, RI

  • Edible flowers
  • Slight citrus scent
  • A pretty garnish!

Peaches — from Steere Orchard in Greenville, RI

  • Large peaces
  • So juicy, you’ll want to eat them over the sink!
