What a glorious way to start our gleaning season! This week we hosted 5 trips, welcomed 14 volunteers, and harvested 3000 pounds of beets, lettuce, kale, turnips, summer squash, and cucumbers. Thank you Movement Ground Farm, Arcadian Fields Farm, Big Train Farm, Urban Edge Farm, and Four Town Farm for allowing us in your fields! The food we gleaned this week was donated to our partners at Olneyville Food Pantry, Food Not Bombs, The Elisha Project, URI Graduate Village, the Rhode Island Food Bank , 134 Collaborative, Community Action Partnership of Providence, and Jonnycake Peacedale.
Nothing fills our hearts more than seeing our enthusiastic volunteers ready to get to work! Thank you everyone for your help and for wearing your masks and practicing physical distancing during our trips. We are incredibly thankful to be a part of the Rhode Island community and are eager to continue our partnerships with all of you in hopes of a better future where everyone is valued, supported, and has what they need to lead a healthy life. Go Glean Team!
