Allen Farms

September 1, 2017

Excerpt from allenfarmsorganics.com

Allen Farms is a family owned and operated organic farm, located on 50 scenic acres in South Westport Massachusetts. Within the 50 acres, we utilize our fertile fields during the spring, summer, and fall season to grow a plethora of herbs, greens, vegetables and flowers. We also have 7 greenhouses that we use all year round with plans to build an additional greenhouse this year.

When Debra Barrett founded Allen Farms in 1987, she made a commitment to being organic, believing that it was truly the best way to grow and enjoy your greens, vegetables, herbs and flowers. In 1989 Allen farms became certified organic and remain so today under Baystate Organic Certifiers

Allen Farms started out growing potted herbs for Bread & Circus (currently known as Whole Foods Markets) and supplying local chefs, wholesale and retail markets and Eva’s Garden(Certified Organic) with herbs, greens and specialty produce. When Bread & Circus was taken over by Whole Foods, Allen farms remained a key supplier of herbs to the northeast region stores.

Once we started to expand the product line and volume, we were able to also expand out customer base. Debbie sought new outlets such as farmers markets, new wholesale and retail markets, Market Moble via Farm Fresh Rhode Island, and additional restaurants within Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Deb, Emily (her daughter) and Tom (her son) enjoy working together with local chefs, experimenting with our produce, and creating new/healthy dishes, smoothies, sauces, jams, cocktails and more! Deb, Emily and Tom also love working and talking about our products with our customers and friends at the farmers markets; for feed back, ideas, new recipes and more!
