Wa-Shokuiku Japanese cooking class September 17

September 5, 2019

Meet us at Harvest Kitchen for a fun and informative, hands-on class on Japanese cuisine, food culture, and customs. This class will focus on bento, the Japanese meal in a box that appeals to the eye as well as the palate. Each participant will CREATE their own bento and leave with a PAIR OF CHOPSTICKS and RECIPES. A DRINK, APPETIZER and DESSERT included!

By attending a Blackstone Culinaria Food Tour your ticket purchases support the local dining establishment and benefit Blackstone Valley Tourism Council’s environmental education programs in the Blackstone River Valley.

ABOUT THE CLASS


Sheri Lupoli and Hiroko Yano will be instructing the class. Sheri is a former researcher in the Department of International Language and Exchange at Josai International University in Chiba-ken, Japan. She received an MA in Japanese Language and Society from the University of Sheffield in the UK, with a specialization in the development of sustainable food organizations in Japan. Sheri is responsible for Wa-Shokuiku program development in Southern New England. Hiroko Yano comes from a family of Japanese cooks. She is a recent graduate of Rhode Island College and has taught the Wa-Shokuiku Program at schools in Providence.

ABOUT BLACKSTONE CULINARIA


Created by the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council in 2008, Blackstone Culinaria has exposed local restaurants to thousands of new guests by showcasing the talents, traditions, and tastes of Blackstone Valley’s culinary treasures.

Through monthly visits to local restaurants, culinary establishments, and food related events across Blackstone Valley; our guests discover the interesting techniques, inside details, and background stories that make these places so unique.

With a focus on presenting fun dining experiences, attendees of Blackstone Culinaria learn delicious culinary tips, either through a live demonstration or an engaging talk by the chef/owner, and enjoy an intimate meal with the companions that join you.
