This summer, Farm Fresh Rhode Island will offer Market CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture) at two of our Providence markets: Downtown and at the Armory. Now, socially conscious consumers can support many local farms and artisans around the state and enjoy delicious local dinners at home.
While a traditional CSA connects one farm to one supporter/family, the Market CSA will bring together produce from all of the vendors present at each respective market. For customers who might need to get back to work or to their family, a Market CSA will provide the convenience of a generous assortment of the market's fruits, vegetables, and artisan food in one box. It will be ready for pickup so you can get your staples and have time to browse the market for some extra goodies.
The Market CSA works by paying a fixed price up front in the spring and then coming to each market weekly during the summer to pick up your share. We will take good care packing your produce each week. All you need to do is be there! The fixed price we collect will go directly to all the farmers participating, to help with their costs during the season. Farm Fresh will serve strictly as the direct link between you and the local farms, taking care of logistics and adding to your convenience.
This summer, shares will be $200 for 10 weeks. Each market will have two 10-week periods, giving you the flexibility to choose and consider which dates work best for you. We hope you are interested in becoming stakeholders in this growing movement. Download a 2008 registration form on which you can indicate which market you would like to purchase your Market CSA from and also provide contact/payment details in order to receive information during the season. Only 20 CSA spots at each market. Each 10-week share is $200. If both shares for the market are purchased, you will receive $25 off your total.
