Local Food Fest 2012 Tuesday, August 7, 2012. 5 to dusk.

We're still prepping 2012 Local Food Fest details. Tickets for the August 7th event will be available for sale by late February 2012. In the meantime here is some information about the most recent Local Food Fest.

Preview Hour Honorees
  • Nell Newman, Chairwoman of Wholesome Wave and Co-Founder of Newman's Own Organics
  • Michel Nischan, President of Wholesome Wave and Chef Proprietor of the Dressing Room
  • Gus Schumacher, Executive Vice President of Wholesome Wave and former USDA Under Secretary
This year we honor our partnership with Wholesome Wave to increase fresh food access in low-income communities in Rhode Island.

Farm Fresh RI is proud to work closely with Wholesome Wave. We were one of their first sites in the country to offer bonuses to Food Stamps customers at farmers markets. This year we are one of six sites nationwide to pilot their VeggieRx at low-income health clinics. For decades, they have championed good food and we are proud to have them here tonight.

100% Compostable Evening. We are proud that all waste from this year's Local Food Fest will be composted back into RI healthy soils at Earth Care Farm. This is possible thanks to a donation of biodegradable dinnerware by Whole Foods. In addition, all cooking oil at Castle Hill is recycled into biodiesel.

Information about the Local Food Fest in 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2007 is still available if you're curious.
