Fresh Food Drive

We all deserve fresh, healthful food.

This year you can bring fresh food to those who need it most. Food banks and soup kitchens are often without fresh fruits and vegetables. Your Fresh Food Drive donation can bring the bounty of RI farms to the mouths of the hungry.

The Fresh Food Drive is a program that was just waiting to happen. Connecting the local harvest of food with Rhode Islanders who are hungry just makes sense. Help us kick off the first year of the Fresh Food Drive! Share those butternut squashes, carrots and potatoes and bring healthy food to the hungry. Holiday Fresh Food Drive at RISD — November 30, 2007

  1. Come to Project Apron: Fighting Hunger with Fashion on Friday, November 30, 7-9 pm at RISD's Metcalf Dining Hall. It's a Design-a-Thon and Apron Auction.
  2. One canned food item is your admission. Bid at the Apron Auction or make a personal donation.
  3. All of the money will go to the RI Food Bank. Half will specifically buy fresh fruits and vegetables through Farm Fresh RI's Holiday Fresh Food Drive. This fresh food will go straight from the fields of RI farms to the RI Food Bank. Farmers have agreed to match all food purchases with an equal amount of donated goods, to be spread throughout the upcoming year. In addition, the Feinstein Foundation will match a percentage of what's raised at the auction.

Food Drive at Farmers' Markets — all October 2007

  1. Come to the Farm Fresh RI table at Farmers' Markets this October.
  2. Make a donation to the Fresh Food Drive with cash, check or credit card.
  3. 100% of your donation will go to purchase fresh produce from farmers at the market. Participating farmers are offering their veggies and fruits at or below cost, and will drop off at the RI Food Bank or partner meal sites.
